...It
is a labor of love born out of a
desire to partner with families that are experiencing fear
about the inability to provide meals for their families due to
an unexpected financial setback.
Illness, job loss, or any number of hardships facing
today’s families can trigger economic destabilization within
a home. When forced with the option of paying bills or
buying food, most families lose sight of the bigger picture of
household economics in favor of providing for immediate needs.
Papa’s Pantry’s goal is to partner with these
families THROUGHOUT the crisis period by providing the
family’s food needs in order to reduce the strain on already
overburdened finances while they tend to the business at
hand... stabilization.
In 7 years, Papa’s Pantry has grown from a part-time effort to a
full-time commitment. Born
in the basement of my home in August of 1998, I operated the
pantry while still working full-time with a major Atlanta
corporation. In
the summer of 2003, leaving the comfort of a steady paycheck
behind, I devoted myself to full-time service through The
Pantry; certainly
a leap of faith. When Papa’s Pantry noted its 6th
birthday in the summer of 2004, we celebrated the Grand Opening of
our new office in Canton.
Just like the opportunities that have fueled our growth
over the past many years, our new location provided more
opportunities for expansion than we ever dreamed possible
In
April of this year, we moved into a larger facility in Woodstock and
now
have the space to provide life skills coaching and classes, as
well as tutoring in-house!
Papa’s
Pantry has provided food assistance to hundreds of families, and
we have seen exponential growth. Leveraging
funds, it takes approximately $30 per family to provide
2 weeks of meat, milk, and produce to our partnered families.
These perishables are funded through financial donations that
are received from caring members of the community.
Non-perishable goods are also provided to families through
in-kind donations from individuals, churches, businesses, and
local civic organizations.
The year-round food assistance provided includes both
perishable and non-perishable items, including items like
toiletries, paper goods, and baby items.

Pantry and I need your help.
