... It
is a whole-istic program designed to work with
families at their immediate point of need.
Illness, job loss, or any number of hardships facing
today’s families can trigger economic destabilization within
a home. When forced with the option of paying bills or
buying food, most families lose sight of the bigger picture of
household economics in favor of providing for immediate needs.
Papa’s Pantry’s goal is to partner with these
families THROUGHOUT the crisis while they tend to the business at
hand... stabilization.
As our name implies, one primary
goal is to provide food when there are shortages in the home. 1 out of
11 households in Georgia experience “hunger”. Along with donated
non-perishable food items that are given, nutritional components such as
meat, milk, and produce are often purchased for our food assistance
families. Getting back on their feet cannot happen on just processed
(junk) food. Our bodies were designed by God, our Creator, to work
efficiently on the foods he created for us, and provided in the Garden
of Eden.
“Man does not live by bread alone,
but by every word of the Living God.” (Deut 8:3, Mat 4:4 and Luke 4:4)
A lack of food in the household is
certainly a problem, but it’s not the problem. We have
found that it is a symptom of a deeper cause. Once the reality of
“crisis” sets in, people are looking for help, want to learn, and to do
“whatever it takes” to get back to "normal". That’s where the
Ministry/ Training Center comes in.
Regardless of faith, the biblical
principles we teach are proven - Another goal of Papa's Pantry is to
provide information and encouragement that show families how to activate
biblical truths in their own lives. Free training opportunities that are
available to the community (not just to food recipients) include:
one-on-one coaching, goal setting, cash flow forecasting, financial
strategies, workforce preparation, nutrition, and bible studies.
Tutoring is available after school to children at no charge.
For
over 10 years, Papa’s
Pantry has provided food assistance to thousands of families.
As our ministry and services have grown, we've been better
able to equip families with the tools necessary to become
stable. To continue our work, Papa’s
Pantry and our families need your help.
Project HOPE-Strategic Impact
Partnerships, has been designed to be the next level of
assistance - giving even more HOPE to our hard-working families!
We found that
many times, our clients still have to “shop” charitable resources to
piece together other assistances they need, such as utilities, medical,
car care, etc. This can create confusion and potential abuse of the
various organizations. It is our hope to be become a “one-stop-shop” to
maximize efficiencies. Families will be better able to move
strategically from
“survival” to
“mission” mode.
